Herbal Sex Pills Withdrawn Due To Serious Health Risks

Wed, 01 August 2007

Herbal sex pills “Top Gun For Men Herbal Extracts” have been backed out of the market due to inclusion of the traces of Cialis (tadalafil), a prescription erectile dysfunction drug which might cause serious adverse effects in men currently having heart disorder.

The national drug regulator released a notice concerning the herbal sex pills when it was found under the tests that the pills have traces of tadalafil, which could lead to serious effects in men with an existing heart disease.

According to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), the herbal pills were even not registered in Australia and thus had been dispersed illicitly. They were accessible in NSW and Victoria.

Marketed under the brand name Cialis, tadalafil is usually hailed as the "weekend erection" pill due to its 36-hours effect.

A reminder note from Top Gun manufacturer, Sydney-based La Viva Blue, notified the pills could lead to "serious health repercussions, especially for patients currently having health concerns like heart problems, or people who are at risk of stroke."

A TGA spokeswoman averred that the traces of the potent undeclared additive were detected while the regular laboratory testing.

"Tadalafil is formulated to cure erectile dysfunction in men and is permitted to be purchased only by prescription from a licensed medical practitioner on the account of risks linked with its usage," she further added.

"Consumers who have bought Top Gun For Men are advised not to utilize it and to check with a medical practitioner if they have applied the preparation and are concerned about their wellbeing."

It was not the first incidence that herbal sex-improving products have been found guilty of containing prescription-only compounds. The herbal sex-enhancing products had also been condemned on the same account earlier this year.

In April, two other natural products namely Excite for Women and Ultimates for Men, were also noticed to embrace the active ingredient of prescription Viagra.
