Taunted Teenager Named Slimmer of the Year

A schoolboy shed more than four stone in just six months after years of being taunted by classmates who nicknamed him 'Chubbs'.

Unable even to walk up the stairs without feeling breathless, Harry Moore took the drastic action after feeling isolated and depressed.

He will be crowned Slimming World Young Male Slimmer of the Year today.

Harry had grown isolated and depressed when his weight prevented him from joining his friends in games of football and paintball.

He sought comfort in spending evenings in front of his TV or computer eating giant pizzas and baguette sandwiches.

The turning point came when Harry read about the rise in childhood obesity in his local paper, and Slimming World's work to reverse the trend.

He joined a local group and began losing weight on a healthy eating plan for young people.

In the process Harry discovered a passion for cooking and his active new life now includes walking, running and gym sessions as part of his regular routine.

Harry will pick up his prize, worth £2,000 at the Green Park Deluxe Suite at Ritz Hotel at 10.30am after impressing competition judges with his attitude. He told them: "I want to be a role model, not a statistic."
