Wed, 25 April 2007
Jude Selvaraj, Pfizer’s medical adviser in Singapore and Malaysia, recently said that around 20 percent of Asian men suffer from erectile dysfunction disease. Selvaraj, who was speaking at the launch of Pfizer’s new diagnostic kit to help men deal with erectile dysfunction, said erectile dysfunction is prevalent in Asia. He said people in Asia are still not open to talk about sex and they hesitate in admitting that they suffer from erectile dysfunction. According to him 20 percent of the Asian males suffer from it. Though, the firm has put the figure of men between 40 to 80 years of age at around 13 to 28 percent. In coming years, the disease is only going to rise further. In 1995, erectile dysfunction affected 152 million males and it is expected to touch 322 million by 2025. The Pfizer product is called Erection Hardness Score (EHS), and with it a man can measure the stiffness of his genital’s erection. It has a scale from one to four where four stands for totally rigid and one means it’s large but not hard. And even verdict about product’s fate is out. Victoria Lehmann, a sex therapist from the UK, said the product is to use and definitely help male in addressing this erectile dysfunction.
